The Miami VA Healthcare System with Monroe County Veterans Affairs will be hosting two town hall meetings regarding the Mission Act. The first meeting will be Thursday, July 18 at 2 p.m. at Murray Nelson Government Center in Key Largo and the second meeting will be held Friday, July 19 at 10 a.m. at Harvey Government Center in Key West.
The meeting will identify eligibility for community care in layman's terms, who the providers are in Monroe County, the efforts to increase providers in Monroe County, and how new legislation impacts veterans in Monroe County.
The Mission Act strengthens the Veteran Affairs office's ability to deliver trusted, easy access, high-quality care to facilities, telehealth, and in communities providing care for veterans where and when they need them.

The State of Florida has allocated $10 Million to Monroe County through the
Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR)
Voluntary Home Buyout Program. The goal of the program is to
reduce the risk of flooding through the purchase of properties impacted
by Hurricane Irma. Monroe County is seeking citizen participation,
public comment, and input for the Florida Voluntary Home Buyout Program
at the Public Hearing scheduled for July 22, 2019, at 10:00 A.M., or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard. The County is also seeking to determine whether there are additional interested parties for the Rebuild Florida Home Buyout Program in Monroe County.
