Monroe County’s Legislative Affairs Director Lisa Tennyson and Public Information Officer Kristen Livengood were invited by Naval Air Station Key West on a “Distinguished Visitor” overnight tour on the USS John C. Stennis aircraft carrier while the ship conducted training exercises off Key West. Key West City Manager Greg Veliz, Key West Assistant City Attorney George Wallace, Lea Moeller of Debbie Mucarsel-Powell’s office, Greg Langowski and Gina Alonzo of Marco Rubio’s office, Lisa Gordon of the Department of Environmental Protection, Cori Convertito of Key West Art and Historical Society, Robert Spottswood, Jr. of Key West, Jeff Dwyer of Ft. Lauderdale, and John Workman of the Palm Beach Shores also attended.

The group was flown via Greyhound delivery aircraft to tailhook onto the nuclear-powered ship and then “catapulted” home at the end of the stay. During the visit, the group was able to tour the inner-workings of the naval warship, watch flight training exercises on deck, and talk with the leadership and the hardworking men and women serving in the United States Navy.
