[ARCHIVED] JANUARY 30-FEBRUARY 3 IS FLORIDA'S SEVERE WEATHER AWARENESS WEEK

The Florida Division of Emergency Management has declared January 30 - February 3, 2012 as
Florida Severe Weather Awareness Week.

Florida’s Severe Weather Awareness Week will take place from January 30- February 3, 2012. Severe Weather Awareness Week is an opportunity for Floridians to learn about the various weather hazards that frequently impact the state and how families and businesses can prepare or these natural events.

Each day focuses on a specific weather event. The topics for each weekday are:

Monday, Jan. 30: Lightning

Tuesday, Jan. 31: Marine Hazards and Rip Currents

Wednesday, Feb. 1: Tornadoes and Thunderstorms

Thursday, Feb. 2: Hurricanes and Flooding

Friday, Feb. 3: Temperature Extremes and Wildfires
