Hurricane Irma Debris Removal Information

The collection of all hurricane land debris placed along roads in Monroe County was completed on Feb. 11.

More than 2.5 million cubic yards of storm debris and more than 20,000 destroyed large appliances created by Cat. 4 Hurricane Irma were collected by County, state and municipal contractors.

Free Disposal for Residential Hurricane Debris at County Transfer Stations Ends March 24:

County homeowners or renters still can bring their hurricane debris to the County's three transfer stations free of charge. This includes white goods, construction debris and yard waste. This free disposal for residents will end March 24.

REMINDER: It now is illegal to put hurricane debris along any roads in the Florida Keys.

Solid Waste, Yard Waste & Recycling Collection

All regular collection schedules for recycling, garbage (solid waste) and yard waste have resumed in unincorporated Monroe County. 

All hazardous waste and electronic waste items should be taken to any of the County’s three transfer stations. At this time, hazardous waste collection is accepted during all transfer station hours, which are Monday - Saturday, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Monroe County contracts with four private franchise operators to provide solid waste, yard waste and recycling for the Keys, excluding the City of Key West and the Village of Islamorada.

County Transfer Stations

Solid waste disposal is currently handled by three transfer stations, where waste is prepared for transportation and disposal at out-of-county locations.

Residents can drop off items directly at the three County transfer stations between the hours of 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Cudjoe Key Transfer Station: Mile Marker 21.5 on the Overseas Highway at Blimp Road, 305-745-2513
