Title: Assistant County Attorney
Mr. Morris completed his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with a minor in Latin American Studies at Wake Forest University in 2008. He received his Juris Doctor degree from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law in 2011, and received the Gillis Long Poverty Law Center Public Service Award for his work representing indigent clients in a variety of civil and criminal matters. Mr. Morris earned his Master of Laws degree in Environmental and Land Use Law at the University of Florida - Levin College of Law in 2012. He has published in the Dartmouth Law Journal and in the Environmental Law Review, has been a member of the Florida Bar since 2013, is a member of the Environmental and Land Use Section of the Florida Bar’s Land Use Committee, and is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. His prior professional experience includes serving the Monroe County Attorney’s Office as a paralegal, working for the University of Florida - Levin College of Law as a senior legal researcher, and serving the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Alabama.
Mr. Morris joined the Monroe County Attorney’s Office in 2013 and is Board-certified through the Florida Bar as an expert in City, County, and Local Government Law. His primary focus areas are advising the Planning, Building and Code Compliance Departments on the adoption and implementation of environmental and land use regulations, and Monroe County’s environmental and land use litigation at the administrative, trial, and appellate levels.
